vitamix juicerOne of the questions that always seems to pop up goes as follows: “What is the difference between blending and juicing? And can I use my Vitamix as a Vitamix juicer?”

Luckily, the answers to both these questions are simple. If you’ve ever been wondering about these things. Or if you’re thinking of buying a Vitamix juicer (or blender), then I highly encourage you to read this article!

In this post I will give you a short and concise explanation of the differences between blending and juicing. I will also explain to you what you can do with your Vitamix juicer and as a bonus give you a healthy breakfast recipe!

Blending VS Juicing

If you’ve been around for longer than 10 minutes on the internet, you’ve probably heard about all the health benefits of blending and juicing. And if you’ve found this page, then you probably already know about the following:

  • Blending and juicing can help you get your daily dose of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
  • Blending and juicing is an easy way to eat more fruits and vegetables.
  • If you want to detox your body, going on a juice diet for some time is a great idea.

But what exactly is the difference between blending and juicing? Aren’t they just different words that mean the same thing?

Well, the answer is NO! That’s because:

While blending and juicing both chop vegetables and fruits at high speeds to make them drinkable, the main difference is that juices do not contain pulp!

What this means is that juices have a less rough texture than smoothies. It also means that smoothies contain more fiber, since juices contain almost no pulp. And that is exactly where most of the fiber is located.

blending vs juicing
This is a smoothie. When you blend instead of juicing, you increase the amount of fiber!

On the other hand, both when blending and juicing most of the vitamins and minerals in the fruits are conserved. So if that’s your main concern, then you really don’t have to worry. Blending and juicing is both fine to do.

But if you feel that you could use more fiber in your diet (most people in the western world do not eat enough fiber – which can cause all kinds of health issues), then blending is the way to go!

So, now that we’ve made the main difference between blending and juicing clear, let’s find out what you can do with your Vitamix juicer…

Can you use your Vitamix blender as a juicer?

Many people want to know if they can use their blender as a juicer. And now that we’ve explained the main difference between blending and juicing, let’s find out how you can use your Vitamix blender as a Vitamix juicer!

Note: Too many people still think that they need a separate blender and juicer. This is simply not true. If you have a quality blender (e.g. Vitamix), then you can use the Vitamix juicer function. I’ll explain you how to do that! Continue reading the following paragraph if you want to find out how to do exactly that!

Recommended Vitamix juicer

If you’ve reached the end of this page about the Vitamix juicer, yore probably curious what the best blender/juicer is for your situation. If you want to make healthy juices for yourself and your family – but at the same time make delicious smoothies, then a Vitamix blender would be the perfect option for you!

Because each Vitamix juicer is so multi functional (meaning you can use it as a blender, or turn it into a juicer with the help of a filtration bag), it’s a perfect addition to the healthy kitchen.

While having a separate juicer in addition to your blender could be an option for some people. I feel that having BOTH a juicer and a blender is a bit too much for most people. As a start, you probably do not have enough space in the kitchen for having 2 (pretty) large appliances. And if you have, chances are you prefer a non-cluttered kitchen.

If you want to find out which blender I recommend, you can read my review of the Vitamix 5200 blender on this page!

P.S.  Want to turn your Vitamix blender into a Vitamix juicer? All you need is a filtration bag and the process becomes really easy! Just blend the way your normally do and put the mix through a filtration bag. Now you have clear juice without any pulp! Click here to order a Vitamix filtration bag from amazon!
